The Perinatal and Paediatric Epidemiology Special Interest Group (PPESIG) were formed in August 2007 to provide a forum for focussed discussion on perinatal and paediatric epidemiology, knowledge exchange, foster collaborative relationships, form a platform for international contact and identify researchers/ institutions undertaking perinatal and/or paediatric research that may be open to staff exchanges. From initial membership of 36, the PPESIG has now grown to 58 members.
For the last three years the PPE Special Interest Group have had special gatherings at the annual AEA conference - at the 2008 Population Health Congress an inaugural breakfast session exploring methodological issues, in 2009 a social gathering was held to facilitate discussion around future activities and networking, in 2010 another breakfast session was held. Membership of the SIG is open to all AEA members and does not involve additional cost.
