Each year a limited number of bursaries are awarded to AEA students.
1. AEA Student Bursary
Up to five student bursaries are awarded to Australasian Epidemiology Association (AEA) students (full-time only) who submit abstracts to present their work at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Applicants for these bursaries must be current financial student members of the Association.
The student bursary may be held concurrently with another scholarship or bursary, and is non-taxable in Australia and New Zealand.
The bursary
The amount of funding for the Bursaries is $200 AUD.
Bursaries will be awarded at the annual conference.
NB: AEA Early Career Award recipients are not entitled to also collect a student travel bursary from the AEA conference.
Selection process
Consideration will only be given to applications submitted on the official application form, word processed and in the requested format. Applications will be considered on merit by the Annual Conference Scientific Review Committee taking into consideration the nature of the research, as well as the applicant's academic merit. In any year the Conference Committee may refrain from making one or more recommendations if no suitable applicant is found.

2. New Zealand student travel award
The New Zealand branch of the AEA offers an award to assist a NZ student to attend the conference. Preference is given to students who are financial members of the AEA, who are presenting a paper at the conference, and who do not have access to any other funding for conference attendance. The award is advertised to New Zealand members and through the AEA bulletin and academic departments mid year.
Note that students may receive one bursary award only in any one year to attend the AEA Annual Conference.
